Advancing Gerontological Insights for a Healthier Tomorrow

Bizonytalansági tényezők és az egészségfejlesztési irodák elérhetősége az idős lakosság számára (Uncertainty and the Accessibility of Health Development Offices for the Elderly Population)

The presentation was prepared for the Selye EKÖP Scientific Forum 2025, held on March 20, 2025, at the Selye János Doctoral College for Advanced Studies, Semmelweis University.

This research examines the spatial distribution and accessibility of Health Development Offices (HDOs) for elderly populations across Hungary. Using geospatial analysis, we assess the territorial balance of these offices and identify regions with lower-than-average availability. Our findings indicate a significant level of uncertainty in their spatial placement, highlighting disparities in service accessibility. Statistical methods such as the Lorenz Curve, Gini Index, Location Quotient, Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, and Shannon Entropy Index provide insights into the extent of these disparities. Understanding these patterns is crucial for improving health promotion efforts and ensuring equitable access to preventive healthcare services.
